Bancomext contributes to generating employment and prosperity for Mexico’s development, by providing financing to firms participating in foreign trade and foreign currency generating activities.

Who are our clients?

  • Export firms: Individuals engaged in business activities or entities established in Mexico that produce goods and services, and export them directly to other countries.
  • Suppliers of export firms: Indirect exporters that supply inputs, parts or components to export firms. May be individuals engaged in business activities or entities established in Mexico.
  • Import firms: Individuals engaged in business activities or entities established in Mexico that purchase products from other countries for producing goods in Mexico that will be sold in both domestic and foreign markets.
  • Import substitution firms: Mexican firms established in Mexico that develop new products, expansions or modernizations, or supply/purchase goods and/or services with at least 50% national content, and that meet any one of the following requirements:
    • a) That the project, order, contract, etc. is the result of an international bidding process, either public or private, or the result of similar schemes in which Mexican firms compete openly with firms from other countries or foreign firms operating in Mexico.
    • b) That the displacement of foreign suppliers is evident.
    • c) That the firm offers or acquires goods or services, the importations of which have increased during the last year.
    • d) That the firm offers/acquires goods or services to/from firms that are importing directly or through associated firms.
    • e) That the firm sells or purchases “commodities” (unrefined raw materials that have been processed at only minimal or insignificant levels) of national origin.
  • Foreign currency generating firms: Individuals engaged in business activities or entities established in Mexico that, by offering their services, generate foreign currency.
