Throughout 2021, Bancomext maintained the strength and solidity that distinguishes it, and has made it worthy of multiple awards, and forms the basis for continuing to meet its objectives of promotion of foreign trade financing, currency generation, employment and the and expanding the productive capacity of companies. This would have not been possible without the financing programs, guarantees and other specialized financial services, which the institution provided throughout the year as well as the work and continued effort of all the institution’s staff who, whether in person or remotely, worked actively and tirelessly.

Going beyond the challenges, 2021 offered Bancomext new opportunities, such as the incorporation of new technologies to provide a more efficient service, with greater dissemination and penetration; and better coordination with the different levels of government, associations, chambers and organizations. The support for small- and medium-sized entreprises(SMEs) was constant. By these means, and with the support of the Federal Government´s priority projects, important steps were taken towards the economic reactivation, and attraction of productive investment.

Among the Bank’s principal achievements in 2021, the following stand out:

  • A total financing of 266,797 million MXN, for the benefit of 3,482 companies, of which 90.1% are SMEs
  • A balance of the private sector portfolio of 257,659 million pesos MXN, which represented 97% of the total.
  • The strength of its capital, which reached an ICAP of 18.51%.

The role of the bank as an agent for the development of national suppliers with financial products such as factoring was strengthened; stock certificates were placed in order to promote economic development and financing for foreign trade; and the placement of the first sustainable bonds which rewarded investor confidence. This placement represented the first subordinated bond with a sustainable label in Latin America and the lowest coupon in the region’s history.

Among the international distinctions achieved, the one awarded by ALIDE for product and service stands out, as well as the ratification of the risk rating conferred by Fitch Ratings. At a local level, the ratification in the financial support provided to landmark infrastructure projects of the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador in particular the ones those related to the Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA).

Bancomext´s most important challenge in the coming year is to increase its capacity, optimize its services, and, above all, position the Bank much closer to people and companies, based on its strategy of: economy for the well-being leave no one behind, leave no one out.
