Since 2013 and 2014, Moody’s, Standard & Poor’s and Fitch credit rating agencies rate BANCOMEXT as shown below, with consideration to the robustness of the Institution and the backing the Federal Government provides it with toward the fulfillment of its goal of being a driver of Foreign trade development in Mexico. Since the summer of 2016, Moody's and Standard & Poor's changed the outlook to negative while Fitch changed it to negative on December 15, 2016.

In July 2017, Standard & Poor's (S & P) improved Mexico's credit outlook from negative to stable. This improvement in the outlook reflects a vote of confidence in the macroeconomic fundamentals of the country and the positive performance of the economy. In August 2017, Fitch changed the outlook from negative to stable, with which the threat of downgrading Mexico's sovereign debt dissipated.
