2017 presented Bancomext with numerous possibilities. An unprecedented financial strength was achieved with a portfolio 319% higher than in 2012, the Capitalization Index on Total Risks increased by 18% and the balance of nonperforming loans was 0.9% of the total portfolio. The country's competitiveness was boosted through the financing of capital goods, and the development of new technologies was favored inside this institution, as well as their incorporation into the daily work. Bancomext embraced the Industrial Revolution of the 21st Century by supporting technological development projects and promoting the implementation of state-of-the-art systems. Fintech applications were added to the financial products offering to provide better services to current and potential customers and the Bancomext community.
2017 highlighted the commitment to environmental and social sustainability. Bancomext signed the Banking Sustainability Protocol in Mexico and adopted the Environmental and Social Risk Management System that establishes a comprehensive management framework to identify, monitor and manage any possible bank’s exposure to environmental and social potential impacts in the credit process. The bank promoted and favored projects related to renewable energies, such as wind and solar, green buildings, pollution prevention and control, and clean transport.
2017 advanced Bancomext’s calling to become the principal Export Credit Agency in Latin America and offer the best credit conditions to our current and potential customers and contribute effectively to strengthening the productive sector linked to foreign trade and foreign currency revenue generation. The role of Bancomext as a development agent for national suppliers, with products such as factoring which underpin the participation of thousands of small and medium enterprises in international trade, was strengthened.
2017 brought Bancomext numerous international awards, for the quality and timeliness of its services: Bank of the Year 2017, granted by the Latin American Association of Development Financing Institutions; Best Infrastructure Financing: Mexico, LatinFinance; Deal of the Year, World Finance, and an Award from the National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data. Notwithstanding the great importance of these awards, the primary source of pride in our Institution rests in our portfolio, thousands of customers who have come to Bancomext for support, advice and financial products to help them complete their projects and be the leading promoters of growth and development in Mexico.
